LAYERS OF BANKSIDE

Creating a collective portrait of Bankside

Layers of Bankside is an evolving public artwork and sonic experience created by Kerbside Collective as Better Bankside’s Alchemists in Residence. Together with the people who live, work, visit and spend time here, we’re uncovering the many layers that make up Bankside – its people, places, stories, memories, sounds, nature and everyday experiences. For this project, we’re exploring the historic central London neighbourhood south of the River Thames, between Blackfriars Bridge and London Bridge.

We'd love you to join in! Throughout the residency we are asking local people to contribute thoughts, memories, and recommendations. There are many ways to be part of the project, you can:  join us in our open studio at Arch 23, or on one of the free walks or garden sessions in the area. For more details and to book onto the free events, see the page here.

You can also help us to build the Layers of Bankside through sharing your own experiences and stories, using the prompts below - please so fill in as little or as much as you'd like of the form below!

And, we have a continually updating map of the area that we are adding to - it would be great if you can add your own favourite place, sighting, or memory. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the community map.
